SANTA CRUZ COUNTY ESTATE PLANNING COUNCIL
JANUARY ZOOM MEETING
Wednesday, January 11, 2023, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
An Overview of Senate Bill 9
for Non-Land Use Practitioners
Speaker: Erik Ramakrishnan, Esq.
Effective January 1, 2022, SB 9 eliminated single-family zoning in much of the state by allowing most single-family lots in urban areas to be developed with up to four dwelling units and to be subdivided through a ministerial process. This training is designed to provide an overview of SB 9 for non-land use practitioners, especially attorneys who specialize in estate planning, wealth management, and real estate law. Find out, for example, how your clients might be able to use SB 9 to downsize and make money from their existing homes without moving off their land, or how SB 9 can be used to help extended families reside together in separate residences.
Erik Ramakrishnan has over a decade of experience in the practice of public law. He represents municipalities and private clients, including both nonprofit and for-profit developers. His practice focuses on land use and the California Environmental Quality Act, but he also advises public agencies on public contracting and municipal finance matters. His special interest is affordable housing law.
The last day to register for this event is Monday, January 9, 2023.
