Competence - Prevention and Detection
Presenter: Ralph Boroff
In this presentation, the speaker will be addressing mainly alcohol misuse and detection.
MCLE Competence and Detection refers to a mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirement in California for attorneys to complete at least one hour of education on recognizing and addressing substance use or mental health issues that could impair professional competence.
About the Speaker
Ralph Boroff graduated from UC Berkeley in 1970 and UCLA Law in 1973. In August of 1974 he came to work as one of six Assistant District Attorneys in Santa Cruz. During the ensuing 10 years he prosecuted several high profile cases including a number of murder trials. In 1984 Boroff left the DAO to work for Melvin Belli's firm doing criminal defense, plaintiff's personal injury and defective medical products cases. By 1987 he joined with Robert H. Ludlow Jr. and remained in associated practice with Ludlow and others until Boroff's retirement in late 2017. Boroff took his last drink on June 16, 1990. E and J Gallo have somehow weathered that financial setback. The Jury Room appears to be doing okay also."
